Sharq.Org is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote and strengthen peace and pluralism throughout the Arab region and beyond.
We envision and aspire to support the development of a harmonious pluralistic world in which people are free to share their stories with confidence and hear those of others with acceptance.
We practice and promote togetherness and the elimination of othering by enabling communities to embrace and celebrate diversity through story sharing, collective action, and community building.
We value integrity, curiosity & authenticity, empathy & equality, and transparency & accountability, and see them as core to the pursuit of peace and pluralism.
We strengthen the ability of people to hear and be heard by developing opportunities for the development of skills that enhance productive expression and debate and by providing opportunities for people to apply these skills during fruitful interactions with others.
We believe in the individual as a motor of change; in a commitment to limiting citizen reliance on group representation; and in a dedication to the development of innovative and attractive platforms that promote peace through dialogue.
We support the creation of independent spaces and platforms that enable uncensored exchange of ideas and aim to improve the quality of representation and storytelling in the Arab world through engagement with journalists, artists and activists.
Our partners include the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Minority Rights Group, the Swedish Institute, Creative Commons, the Arab Human Rights Fund, UCL, the UK FCO, the Asfari Institute, the Issam Fares Institute at AUB, and the KAICIID Dialogue Centre.
